Who is OnyekaOnyeka the writerOnyeka is one of the foremost black writers to have come out of the UK: writer of The Phoenix, Waiting to Explode, the Black Prince, the Whirlwind and the Storm, The Public Enemy, The Black Dove, The Prince of the Ghetto, The Red the Black and the Green/All the Kings Men, For the Love of the Common People. Onyeka is an educator and thinker, a lecturer in Law, researcher and consultant, for bodies as diverse as the University of London, Brunel, Southbank University, Queen Mary and Westfield, Birkbeck, Westminster, School of Oriental and African Studies and so on. Onyeka was a researcher for PUSH, a multicultural, Arts based educational programme. He is director of the Narrative Eye and Onyeka Nubia, co founder of Nubian Eye, and the former chair of the Guild of Black writers, former literary editor of Revelation Magazine and the co founder of the Self Initiative programme, which ran throughout the nineteen nineties in Southwark and Lewisham. He has been a consultant and conducted project planning for Government Department’s and Ministers in the U.K and abroad. As a consultant he has restructured education programmes to encourage and develop outreach initiatives in some of the most deprived areas of the U.K. With over a decade and a half experience with drug abusers, young offenders and those most at risk of crime and social deprivation.
